Invitation – 7/5/2020

Let’s dance! This is an invitation to join me in taking a moment to dance with the possibility of making a difference in your life and in the lives of others. Dance with your body, your mind, your spirit, your soul, your heart. Close your eyes for just a moment and see, feel, hear yourself dancing to the music that moves you. Who are you BEING in that moment?

Invitation to Choose

Four members of our family came to visit on Father’s Day. We sat on the patio observing social distancing and had a wonderful time together. It was the first time we had been together since the pandemic was acknowledged and sheltering in place had been ordered. When they left, I cried.  No hugs. No plans for future events and get togethers. I felt “left out” – like I was being left behind. When I looked in the mirror I told myself, “This feels like what I imagine getting old feels like – being left behind.” And I cried some more.

At my next telephone coaching session with my coach, I related the circumstances and she reflected back that it sounded like I was blaming the pandemic for how I was feeling. Bingo! Yes, I was blaming circumstances! I was sad because I felt like a victim – like I had no control over my life. In fact, I was making choices about how I want to live my life. I am choosing not to hug. I am choosing not to go to gatherings where I may be exposed or I might expose others. These are all choices! Reframing myself from a victim to a victor – from powerless to powerful – that gave me a sense of control over my life. No, I cannot change circumstances. Yes, I can change my perception of how I CHOOSE to respond and that, for me, is freedom.

Invitation to Cope and/or Contribute

In our last post, we shared how each of we four “dynamic agers” are coping and contributing during this unique time in history. This post is about another opportunity to cope and/or contribute. Let me introduce you to my friend and fellow certified life coach, Alexis Bernard. Alexis has found a special way to be a contribution in this unique time by providing free coaching to  people who have been laid off or furloughed as a result of the pandemic. I am excited to be one of the volunteer coaches. Here is your opportunity either to seek coaching or to contribute through Go Fund Me to support those seeking coaching.

Invitation to Make a Difference

How will you choose to make a difference in your own life and the lives of others during this unique time in our lives? “We can talk about making a difference or we can make a difference.” Anonymous. Let’s dance to the possibility of making a difference!
